JFK ASSASSINATION: WAS THERE A SECOND SHOOTER?

Context:
President Kennedy was shot at 12:30 PM in Dallas, Texas. The Warren Commission concluded Lee Harvey Oswald acted alone, firing three shots from the Texas School Book Depository. But the House Select Committee on Assassinations (HSCA) reinvestigated in the 1970s and concluded Kennedy was "probably assassinated as a result of a conspiracy" based on acoustic evidence suggesting a fourth shot from the grassy knoll.
Evidence:
The "magic bullet" theory is the most controversial. The Commission claimed one bullet (CE399) struck Kennedy in the back, exited his throat, then hit Governor Connally in the back, wrist, and thigh - causing seven wounds and emerging pristine. Critics say this defies physics. Connally himself insisted he was hit by a separate shot. Seventy-six witnesses in Dealey Plaza reported hearing shots from the grassy knoll. The Zapruder film shows Kennedy's head snapping backward and left - consistent with a shot from the front right (grassy knoll), not behind. Jack Ruby's murder of Oswald silenced the only person who could explain his actions. Ruby told investigators, "The world will never know the true facts."
Counterpoint:
The Warren Commission's defenders note Oswald was a proven marksman. The acoustic evidence was disputed - a 1982 National Academy of Sciences report concluded the sounds occurred one minute after the assassination. Multiple investigations found no credible evidence of conspiracy. In 2023, the National Archives released thousands of previously classified documents. Official reviewers state they contain no proof of conspiracy.
